چکیده
Identification of fragmentary human remains is an integral par medico legal investigations. Occipital region commonly not affected in traumatic injuries and accidents due to its secluded position which makes it the part determination sex absence entire skeleton. condylar also most common area for degenerative neoplastic diseases. So thorough knowledge anatomy occipital condyle very essential during surgical interventions. 86 skulls were studied from osteological collections Department Anatomy, Yenepoya Medical College. Maximum length breadth condyle, anterior intercondylar distance posterior was measured with help vernier callipers. Descriptive statistics calculated parameters considered. Metric data right left sides compared student t test p value calculated. All obtained subjected discriminant function analysis derive statistical model. All measurements significantly high males females. Condylar width, can be used formula south Indian population accuracy 66.3 %.

Human Adult Occipital Condyles : A Morphometric Analysis
This study proposed to morphologically analyze the adult human occipital condyle, estimate the bilateral differences, sexual dimorphism and compare with the available data. We conducted this study on hundred occipital condyles in fifty dry human skulls. The measurement was performed by the means of the vernier’s caliper on both sides of the skull. The parameters measured are length, width, heig...
متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Imaging-Based Morphometric Assessment of Sexual Dimorphism of Corpus Callosum
Introduction: Interhemispheric transmission of signal is done by corpus callosum (CC) as the largest fiber tract in brain. CC comprised 5 segments of rostrum, genu, body, isthmus, and splenium. Contradictory reports exist about sexual dimorphism of CC. We designed this study to assess probable sexual differences of CC and its different parts in men and women. Methods: We analyzed magnetic reso...
متن کاملGeometric Morphometric Sex Estimation for Hatchling Turtles: A Powerful Alternative for Detecting Subtle Sexual Shape Dimorphism
Identifying sex of hatchling turtles is difficult because juveniles are not obviously externally dimorphic, and current techniques to identify sex are often logistically unfeasible for field studies. We demonstrate a widely applicable and inexpensive alternative to detect subtle but significant sexual dimorphism in hatchlings, using landmark-based geometric morphometric methods. With this appro...
متن کاملSurgical anatomy and morphometric analysis of the occipital condyles and foramen magnum.
Surgical anatomy that provides the basis for dealing with lesions arising in the lower clivus and ventral foramen magnum was reviewed in 8 adult cadaver heads and 76 dry skulls. The extreme lateral transcondylar approach was performed in cadavers; the morphometric analysis was studied in both the cadavers and the skulls. The landmarks, distances and structures were selected in order to guide th...
